Support & Contributions Disclosure

Last Updated: September 9, 2026

Welcome to ReneeOwens.com.

This Support & Contributions Disclosure explains how voluntary financial support, contributed creative supplies, and other assistance may be received and used in connection with ReneeOwens.com, my studio work, and The Mermaid’s Satchel Project.

Your support helps this gentle creative journal continue to grow while making it possible to share sewing, painting, drawing, embroidery, and other creative adventures with the community.

Voluntary Financial Support

Visitors may have the opportunity to support my creative work through Ko-fi or another clearly identified third-party platform.

Voluntary financial support may help cover expenses associated with:

  • Operating and maintaining ReneeOwens.com
  • Website hosting, software, security, and technical services
  • Art, sewing, embroidery, drawing, and crafting supplies
  • Fabric and materials used to sew Mermaid’s Satchel pouches
  • Supplies placed inside Mermaid’s Satchels
  • Packaging and shipping expenses
  • Payment-processing and platform fees
  • Photography, video, audio, and studio equipment
  • Educational articles, tutorials, reviews, videos, and other creative content
  • Administrative expenses and the time required to operate these projects
  • Future creative programs, kits, and community projects

Unless a particular purpose has been expressly accepted by me in writing, voluntary support is not restricted to one specific expense. Funds may be allocated wherever they are most useful to sustain the website, studio, creative work, or Mermaid’s Satchel Project.

Not a Charitable Organization

Renee Owens, ReneeOwens.com, and The Mermaid’s Satchel Project are not currently presented as registered nonprofit or qualified charitable organizations.

Voluntary payments, gifts, supplies, and other contributions should not be treated as tax-deductible charitable donations. I do not issue charitable donation receipts.

The words “support,” “contribution,” “gift,” or “donated supplies” may be used informally to describe generosity toward this work. Their use does not change the legal or tax nature of the transaction.

If you have questions about your individual tax circumstances, please consult a qualified tax professional.

The Mermaid’s Satchel Project

The Mermaid’s Satchel Project provides thoughtfully assembled creative supplies in handmade pouches to aspiring artists who might not otherwise have ready access to them.

Satchels may contain new, surplus, donated, sampled, gently handled, divided, or carefully repackaged materials. Contents will vary according to available supplies, current funding, suitability, shipping limitations, and the individual purpose of each satchel.

Support for the project may help purchase supplies, fabric, notions, packaging, postage, and other materials required to prepare and deliver the satchels.

Supporting the project does not guarantee that:

  • A particular person will receive a satchel.
  • A satchel will contain specific products or brands.
  • A satchel will be available by a particular date.
  • Every contributed item will be placed into a satchel.
  • Every dollar will be assigned to a single satchel or recipient.

Requests for free satchels are considered separately from financial support. Providing support does not improve an applicant’s chances of selection or provide priority access.

Contributed Art, Sewing & Creative Supplies

I may accept appropriate art, sewing, embroidery, drawing, paper-crafting, or other creative supplies for The Mermaid’s Satchel Project or related creative purposes.

Anyone offering physical supplies represents that they own the materials or otherwise have the legal authority to give them.

Please do not send materials without making arrangements through the Contact page. Unsolicited packages may be refused or returned when practical.

For safety and usability, I may decline or discard materials that are:

  • Hazardous, toxic, leaking, contaminated, recalled, or otherwise unsafe
  • Expired or too deteriorated to use responsibly
  • Infested, moldy, strongly scented, or improperly stored
  • Broken, incomplete, or unsuitable for the intended recipients
  • Prohibited or restricted from being shipped
  • Outside the present needs or practical capacity of the project

Unless another arrangement is accepted in writing before delivery, physical supplies accepted for the project become the property of Renee Owens to sort, store, divide, repackage, combine, distribute, redirect to an appropriate creative use, recycle, or safely dispose of as circumstances require.

Contributed supplies generally cannot be returned. The person sending the materials is responsible for shipping costs unless another arrangement has been agreed upon in advance.

No Earmarking Guarantee

You are welcome to express a preference for how financial or material support might be used. However, a requested purpose is not binding unless I expressly agree to it in writing before accepting the support.

This flexibility is necessary because project needs, recipient requests, available materials, postage expenses, storage limitations, and safety considerations may change.

If I cannot responsibly use support for its suggested purpose, I may redirect it toward another closely related website, studio, satchel, or creative-project expense.

Purchases Are Separate From Voluntary Support

ReneeOwens.com may offer handmade Mermaid’s Satchels, sewing kits, watercolor kits, drawing kits, embroidery kits, creative supplies, digital resources, or other products for sale.

A product purchase is a commercial transaction—not a charitable contribution—even when some of the resulting revenue helps support the website, studio, or free Mermaid’s Satchel Project.

Purchasing a product does not create a charitable tax deduction. Orders, payments, shipping, returns, refunds, and product availability are governed by the policies displayed for the applicable shop or checkout service.

Unless a listing expressly states otherwise, buying an item does not mean that a fixed percentage of its purchase price will be assigned to a particular satchel or recipient.

No Guaranteed Benefit or Creative Influence

Voluntary support does not purchase editorial control, favorable coverage, a positive review, special access, project-management authority, or influence over my creative opinions.

Unless a specific product, commission, membership benefit, or reward is clearly offered, voluntary support does not guarantee that the supporter will receive goods or services in return.

Support also does not create ownership rights in my artwork, writing, patterns, designs, photographs, videos, branding, website content, or other intellectual property.

Affiliate and sponsored relationships are addressed separately in the Affiliate & Sponsored Content Disclosure.

Supporter Recognition & Privacy

I may occasionally thank or recognize supporters, contributors, or participating businesses. A name, business name, message, photograph, or other identifying information will not be intentionally published as part of that recognition without permission.

Requests for anonymity will be respected where reasonably possible. However, payment processors, shipping carriers, website providers, and other necessary service providers may still receive information required to process a payment, message, or shipment.

Please do not include private, sensitive, financial, medical, or unnecessary personal information in a public message or support note.

Third-Party Platforms & Payment Services

Financial support and purchases may be processed through independent services such as Ko-fi, payment processors, ecommerce providers, or other third-party platforms.

Those services operate under their own terms, privacy policies, fees, security procedures, and refund processes. ReneeOwens.com does not control their systems or guarantee uninterrupted access to their services.

I may receive limited information connected with a transaction, such as a supporter’s name, email address, payment amount, message, shipping information, or transaction identifier, when that information is necessary to process or document the transaction.

Refunds & Payment Errors

Because voluntary support is given without an expectation of receiving a product or service, it is generally final and nonrefundable except where required by law or applicable platform rules.

If you believe a payment was duplicated, processed in error, or made without authorization, please contact me promptly through the Contact page and provide enough transaction information for the matter to be investigated.

Refund requests relating to purchased products are handled according to the terms presented for the applicable order or selling platform.

Project Changes & Availability

Creative projects naturally change as materials, funding, available time, storage, postage costs, recipient needs, and other circumstances evolve.

The scope, frequency, contents, eligibility process, availability, or operation of The Mermaid’s Satchel Project and other creative programs may be modified, paused, or discontinued when necessary.

If a project ends while general support remains available, those resources may be used for outstanding project expenses or redirected toward a reasonably related creative, educational, website, or studio purpose.

International Support & Shipments

International payments or shipments may involve currency-conversion charges, taxes, customs requirements, duties, carrier fees, restrictions, delays, or additional paperwork.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the sender is responsible for costs and legal requirements associated with sending contributed supplies. The recipient of a purchased or gifted item may also be responsible for import-related charges imposed by their country.

No Legal Relationship

Providing financial support, contributing materials, receiving a satchel, purchasing a product, or participating in a project does not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, agency, investment, creditor, fiduciary, sponsorship, or ownership relationship with Renee Owens.

Supporters and contributors do not receive voting rights, management authority, or control over the website, studio, projects, content, or distribution decisions.

Changes to This Disclosure

This Support & Contributions Disclosure may be updated as the website, studio, shop, creative kits, contribution methods, and Mermaid’s Satchel Project continue to grow.

The most current version will always be published on this page with its updated revision date.
